It turns out that in addition to not displaying OpenGL apps like the Ogoglio viewer (despite claims otherwise) that the Parallels Desktop for Mac installs a startup item, llipd, which delays network traffic of some forms as much as 5 seconds.
I first noticed this problem when my keystrokes and chat messages in the Ogoglio viewer were delayed by 5 seconds, but only on one of my MacBooks. I eventually narrowed the difference between the machines down to the Parallels processes so I killed them, removed their startup items, and rebooted. The Ogoglio viewer was then as responsive as ever. To double check that this was really the problem I put the startup items back, rebooted, and the problem had returned. Remove, reboot, and the problem is gone.
Remove the following directory:
/Library/StartupItems/ParallelsTransporter/
Then you'll need to reboot because the damage has already been done and just killing the process has no effect.
